Remedies for Sinusitis
BySinusitis is an infection that occurs in the nasal cavities, the sinuses. If the cilia filter is malfunctioning, the bacteria we inhale by breathing can get blocked in the sinus cavities and produce a local infection.
Treating sinusitis is made with drugs prescribed by the doctor, and some home remedies.
The treatment must kill the bacteria, make facial pain and pressure disappear, clear up the nasal cavities and maintain intact the sinus and nasal tissues.
Treatment must be instituted as soon as possible to help the patient feel better and prevent other complications. The doctor will prescribe an antibiotic drug (oral or inhale drugs) if the sinusitis is caused by a bacterium; a decongestant, analgesics who will reduce the pain and corticosteroids to slow down the inflammation in the nasal cavities.
Some general symptoms of sinus infection are: headaches, fatigue, facial and upper jaw pains, and tenderness of the sinus area, sore throat, cough, colored nasal drainage, bad breath and swollen eye lids.
Sinusitis is difficult to diagnose in children but if your child has repeated sinus infections you can be vigilant to its symptoms in order to begin home treatment when you see that another infection will occur.
Treatment for acute and chronic sinusitis differs. For acute sinusitis, that generally lasts 2-3 weeks, doctors recommend antibiotic treatment for 5 to 7 days. Even if you feel better after a few days, make sure you do not interrupt the treatment until the doctor says so. Antibiotics have side effects and if you are not feeling well after taking them, request your therapist a different antibiotic. You can also use steam inhalations to minimize your nasal congestion.
The chronic sinusitis lasts longer, about 6-8 weeks and it is more difficult to treat.
Antibiotic therapy will be followed for at least 2 weeks and it is possible to use more than one antibiotic drug. Corticosteroids will be also used in order to relieve the inflammation of the nasal passages.
At people who have a weakened immune system (by cancer, HIV) unusual sinus infections may appear. These infections can be caused by fungus and other types of bacteria than the usual ones. In this case doctors recommend antifungal therapy associated with corticosteroids and even surgery.
If a patient has followed the classical antibiotic therapy and there were no signs of improvement the surgical therapy will be recommended because a complication could have occurred: the infection of the facial bones.

Sinusitis can be a tough one. I had a massive case that was caused by teeth infections when my newbie dentist didn’t see it in the x-rays. It got really bad over several months and I started hitting it with echinacea and golden seal (if you have high blood pressure do NOT take golden seal). Suma & pau d’arco are adaptogens and will also help battle it. If these don’t put a dent in it you can drag out the BIG stuff. Wild, hand-picked Oil of Oregano manufactured by North American Herb & Spice under the name Oreganol is the bomb. NOT cheap it’s usually $29.95 for .45 ounces. That’s less than half an ounce for $30. It says to dilute it and unless you are mongo tuff u should listen to that recommendation. If you want it to clear your nose and rock your world try 5 drops full-strength … 8 if you dare. And hang on. Oreganol will greatly upset HIV and should start clearing your sinisitis right away but might take a week or two to clear it out totally.
Top this off with one of the greatest anti-oxidants known, L-Glutathione or it’s predecessor NAC (n-acetyl cysteine), or both if the sinusitis is really stubborn.
Add BHI/Heel Labs "Sinusitis" to finish it off.
I really like and trust BHI/Heel Labs and I’m pretty sure that they have a Candida remedy by that name.
There are many who also like the Japanese Plum Extract "Mumefural Concentrate" available from Swanson Health, 1-800-437-4148, part # SWK010.
The other catch-all that is rarely considered is garlic. You can get a garlic/cayenne combo from Swanson also for a decent price. And another remedy booster would be ginger root, also spicy, and you can get that at Von’s and many grocery stores.
The most important thing is to find out WHAT is causing this problem. Infected teeth for the sinusitis is a big possibility or a nasal infection would be the "too obvious" possibility but you prb already know the cause so deal with that as much as you deal with the symptoms if you want to rid yourself of it for good.
Good luck. If you want me to research candida more I can do that but give me some time. Must dig through many volumes.
There was also another ingredient that was really popular about 10 years ago but it escapes me now but I can dig thru a cpl of 100 bottles in my "vitamin drawer" and probably find an old empty bottle.

Candida overgrowth is rare but can be triggered by depletion of intestinal flora, usually after overuse of antibiotics. You would want to repopulate the flora by taking probiotics. Probiotics are in foods like honey and sour yogurt, you can also get them in capsules. It’s also important to lay off white sugar when you do this because sugar feeds the candida.
Sinusitis is helped by ascorbic acid(aka vitamin c) aromatherapy with eucalyptus, peppermint etc. Neti pots/sinus washes are excellent for sinusitis.
